Stormguard Exteriors was built on a lifetime of hands-on construction experience and a commitment to doing business the right way. Owner Doug Thompson was born and raised on the Washington coast in a family deeply involved in the construction industry. He began working summers, weekends, and school breaks at just 15 years old while remaining committed to school and sports.
After graduating, Doug joined the family construction business full-time, where he continued learning the trade from the ground up. Over the years, he gained extensive experience in roofing, siding, decks, exterior renovations, structural repairs, and the challenges that come with building in wet coastal climates.
That background eventually led him to establish Stormguard Exteriors. With more than 25 years of hands-on construction experience, Doug understands that a successful exterior project requires more than good-looking materials. It requires proper installation, careful attention to flashing and water management, honest communication, and craftsmanship that will stand up to the elements for years to come.
After spending several summers working in Ketchikan, Doug developed a strong connection to Southeast Alaska and the people who call it home. Ketchikan has become a second home to him, and he hopes to make it his permanent home in the future. Stormguard Exteriors is committed to establishing a lasting local presence in the community—not simply completing a few projects and leaving town.
